Sunday concerts at the music pavilion in Wilhelmshaven's Kurpark
For 25 years, the Kurpark-Konzerte have been a firm fixture of Wilhelmshaven's summer program. The format is convincingly simple: on around eight Sundays between May and September, selected ensembles perform at the music pavilion in the Kurpark. Performances always begin at 11:00 AM, and the concerts are free. Spar + Bau Wilhelmshaven, a traditional Wilhelmshaven housing association, sponsors the series, making it a contribution from the local economy to the city's quality of life.
The opening concert on May 10, 2026, traditionally coincides with Mother's Day and is performed by the Wilhelmshaven Naval Music Corps. The renowned ensemble, led by Frigate Captain Matthias Prock, is a staple in the North German music scene. A classical concert program of marches, waltzes, and symphonic wind music makes the opening a festive family occasion.
Throughout the summer months, further concerts by various ensembles follow — from Moorland Pipes & Drums, a regional pipe band, to choirs and big bands, and soloists. The program varies depending on the year and the availability of the bands. In total, the series comprises about eight concerts. Those looking for a relaxed Sunday in the green with good music will find a reliable offering here. Blankets, folding chairs, and possibly a sun hat are recommended.
The 2026 season continues the 25-year tradition. Dates and bands will be published via Spar + Bau Wilhelmshaven and Wilhelmshaven Touristik.
The concerts are an important contribution to the cultural revitalization of the Kurpark and a popular meeting point for families.
The exact 2026 program — dates, bands, order — will be published by Spar + Bau Wilhelmshaven. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
