Art market and studio days at Caputh Castle
Caputh is a district of the municipality of Schwielowsee in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, located on Caputher See between Templiner See and Schwielowsee. The town is known for the baroque Caputh Castle – the summer residence of the Great Elector – and for the summer house where Albert Einstein spent the summers from 1929 to 1932. The ensemble of castle park, lake, village center, and artist scene makes Caputh one of the most attractive day trip destinations from Berlin and Potsdam.
The KunstTour Caputh follows a format that has grown over the years: Two weekends, each Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., during which over ten venues in Caputh and the surrounding area showcase art. The central hub is the Caputh Art Market on the Schlossplatz, a curated market with selected vendors. In addition, Villa San Vitale, the Schlossgalerie Haape, several private studios, and community centers open their spaces.
The "Kunstmucker" – a collective of artists and performers – create live performances, small theater formats, and interactive activities for families. Pottery workshops, children's art activities, and improvisation theater complement the program, making the KunstTour more than just an exhibition – a landscape of workshops.
The organizer is KulturForum Schwielowsee e.V., supported by the municipality of Schwielowsee and the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark. The 2026 edition will be the 19th in the series – an indication of the format's established place in Brandenburg's cultural calendar.
Admission to the studio locations and the art market is free. Only food and drinks at the market stalls, and possibly participation in individual workshops, are paid for on-site.
The 19th KunstTour Caputh 2026 takes place over two weekends in late summer and early autumn: August 29 and 30, and September 5 and 6, 2026, each Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM. The organizer is KulturForum Schwielowsee e.V., supported by the municipality of Schwielowsee and the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark. The central hub is the Caputh Art Market on the Schlossplatz; in addition, Villa San Vitale, Schlossgalerie Haape, and numerous artist studios in the town open their doors. Free admission. The program is complemented by "Kunstmucker" performances, pottery workshops, and children's art activities.
