Gäßestrepperfest, Bitburger Autofestival and Bitburg Classic

The first weekend of September is the grand Triple Event weekend in Bitburg. On September 5th and 6th, 2026, three events will take place, which, while organizationally independent, consciously complement each other and together form the largest commercial and cultural event of the city in late summer.

Gäßestrepperfest

The traditional Gäßestrepperfest is based on a humorous Bitburg tradition invention: "De Beberiger Gäßestrepper" are a group of costumed citizens who playfully baptize fellow citizens and guests with local nicknames. The highlight is a festival parade on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at 4 PM through Trierer Straße. The Gäßestrepperfest thus combines tradition, self-irony, and local identity building.

Bitburger Autofestival

The Bitburger Autofestival is one of the largest regional car show events in the Südeifel. On 100,000 m² in the Merlick industrial area, Bitburg car dealerships and supra-regional brands present their latest models. The focus is on:

• New cars of all classes, from small cars and SUVs to luxury vehicles
• Classics and classic replicas
• Electromobility – e-cars, hybrids, charging infrastructure, e-bikes, and e-scooters
• Special vehicles, motorhomes, commercial vehicles

Bitburg Classic

In parallel, Bitburg Classic takes place – the meeting for youngtimer and oldtimer enthusiasts. Collectors, clubs, and private individuals from the region showcase their well-maintained vehicles from several decades of automotive history. Bitburg Classic is both an exhibition format and a meeting platform for the oldtimer community.

Sunday with Open Shops

On Sunday, September 6th, 2026, from 1 PM to 6 PM, Bitburg's city center will have shops open, making the entire weekend a date for extensive shopping combined with the three car and city events.

The Bitburg Business Association is in charge. Bitburg Classic is organized in cooperation with regional oldtimer clubs.
