Galleries, studios, and art institutions open their doors together – 4th Art Night in Landau
Art nights have proven to be a successful format in many German cities for making the local art scene visible. Kunst.Nach(t). Landau follows this concept and creates a special atmosphere in Landau's city center on one evening in May: galleries, studios, and art institutions open their doors simultaneously, lighting and music create special accents, and the public strolls from one venue to another. The 4th edition in 2026 builds on the success of previous years and brings together the most important players in Landau's visual arts scene.
Participating venues include the Strieffler Haus der Künste – a museum dedicated to the work of the Palatinate painter Heinrich Strieffler –, the Villa Streccius with its renowned series of contemporary art exhibitions, the Haus am Westbahnhof as a meeting point for young artists and alternative positions, as well as other galleries and studios in the city center. Each venue presents its own focus – from classical modernism and contemporary painting and photography to sculpture, printmaking, and installation art.
Between 5 PM and 11 PM, exhibition openings, artist talks, performances, guided tours, and musical performances take place in the participating venues. The city of Landau and the Kulturnetz Landau coordinate the overall program and will publish a detailed schedule shortly before the event. Visitors can wander from venue to venue, creating their own individual art route through the city.
The art night attracts a diverse audience: art aficionados, families, students from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, gastronomy visitors, and tourists. The atmosphere is open and conducive to conversation – often, initial contacts are made between artists and collectors, or between interested individuals and gallery owners. Kunst.Nach(t). Landau thus contributes to increasing the visibility of the local art scene and profiling Landau as a cultural hub in the Southern Palatinate.
The 2026 edition marks the fourth iteration of Kunst.Nach(t). Landau. The city of Landau and Kulturnetz Landau are coordinating the program for the participating venues and will publish a detailed program overview in the days leading up to the festival.
For six hours, the city center transforms into a cultural stage: galleries, studios, and art institutions welcome the public, and artists are on-site and available for discussions. The event is free and open to all interested individuals.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
