17th Summer Concert Series on the Castle Steps — every Wednesday at 7 PM from June to August
The Kulturstufen Koblenz is a deliberately accessible, free open-air concert series organized by the city of Koblenz. The organizer is the city's cultural department, which, in cooperation with PSD Bank and the Koblenz cultural scene, curates an ambitious program each year.
The Schlosstreppe (castle steps) is the monumental staircase between the Electoral Palace and the Rhine. With its wide steps, direct view of the river, and the historical architecture of the palace, it provides a unique concert setting. During the concert, the audience sits on the steps — an open-air experience that is unparalleled in Germany.
The 17th edition includes eleven concerts between June 17 and August 26:
PSD Bank Koblenz supports the series with €20,000 per season — one of the most significant cultural sponsorships in the region. Without this support, the free series would not be possible in this form.
The 2026 edition runs for eleven Wednesday evenings and offers an exceptionally diverse program. The concerts start at 7 PM each and usually last about 90 minutes. Free admission.
