16 Years of Kultursommer Landkreis Harburg

The Kultursommer Landkreis Harburg was launched in 2011 and celebrates its 16th edition in 2026. For over a decade and a half, the festival has become a central cultural event in the district, bringing a diverse program to the towns and villages of the region each year.

Half-Year Festival from April to September 2026

The Kultursommer runs from April 1 to September 30, 2026. Six months of cultural programming in over 150 individual events are spread across the entire district, offering multiple options on almost every weekend.

Motto 2026: New Paths

This year's motto, Neue Wege (New Paths), is reflected in the supported projects: it's about new formats, new encounters between artists, new connections between tradition and the present, and new ways to bring culture to the entire district.

Opening on April 15, 2026, at the Museum im Marstall Winsen

The official start is the opening ceremony on April 15, 2026, at the Museum im Marstall Winsen. With a ceremonial speech, musical program, and presentation of the awarded Kultursommerpreis projects, the half-year program begins.

10 Projects Awarded the Kultursommerpreis

Ten special projects will be honored with the Kultursommerpreis 2026 and will form the programmatic focal points. These projects are spread across the entire district: from the Museum im Marstall Winsen and the Wassermühle Karoxbostel to the KunstWerk Stelle, the Streuobstwiesen-Initiative Jesteburg, and the Orchester Nordheide. Each award-winning project implements the motto Neue Wege in its own way.

Over 150 Events in the District

The rest of the program includes over 150 additional events: open-air concerts, chamber music evenings, exhibitions in cultural centers, workshops for children and adults, theater performances, dance productions, readings, and art performances. The Kultursommer thus brings culture to every corner of the Landkreis Harburg.
