K.u.K. Rübenach – Prunksitzung Karneval

The K.u.K. Kirmes- und Karnevalsgesellschaft Rot-Weiß Rübenach e.V. (Festival and Carnival Society Red-White Rübenach) combines two central traditions of its district: the Kirmes (fair) in September and Karneval (Carnival) during the jester's season. The annual Prunksitzung is considered the highlight of the club's winter activities and is one of the most significant Carnival events in the left-bank Koblenz area.

Red-White between Maifeld and Moselle

Rübenach is located in the western part of Koblenz, nestled between the Maifeld and Moselle Valley. The K.u.K. boasts a long club history and is committed to the traditions of the district. With its own Funkengarde, Tanzmariechen, and show dance groups, the club has an active dance corps that also performs for friendly societies throughout the region.

Liturgy of the Prunksitzung

The Prunksitzung traditionally begins with the ceremonial entry of the Elferrat (council of eleven) accompanied by the hall band, followed by the welcome address by the session president. This is followed by performances by the club's own dance guards, satirical speeches with local relevance, show dance groups, party bands and singers, as well as performances by friendly societies exchanging their honours.

Carnival Tradition in Rübenach

In addition to the Prunksitzung, Rübenach Carnival includes the Ladies' Session, the Children's Session, and above all, the grand Carnival Parade through Rübenach, which is one of the best-attended in the region. Thus, the Prunksitzung is the prelude to an entire season full of events.
