Annual meeting of the shooting clubs of the Lüneburg district at the Schützenhaus Scharnebeck
The Lüneburg shooting district is part of the Lüneburg District Shooting Association and unites around 60 shooting clubs in the Lüneburg district under a common umbrella. The district's tasks include coordinating sporting competitions, training referees, representing the clubs at the state level, and organizing joint events — above all, the annual Kreisschützenfest. The individual member clubs — from the ASG Lüneburg of 1387 and the Schützengilde of 1612 Bardowick to the younger clubs from the post-war era — send their best shooters and officials.
The focus of the Kreisschützenfest is the district championships in various shooting disciplines — small-bore rifle, air rifle, pistol, archery — as well as the honoring of the district shooting kings and queens. The district shooting kings and queens are determined in an annual competition and represent the Lüneburg district at the State Shooting Festival in Lower Saxony. The honors are presented in a festive setting with sashes, king's chains, and certificates.
Beyond the sporting competitions, the Kreisschützenfest offers a social framework that brings together club officials and members across club boundaries. A ceremony with speeches by the district chairman and politicians, a shared meal, honors for long-serving members, and a dance evening form the framework. The Schützenhaus Scharnebeck — a spacious club building with a hall, shooting range, and outdoor area — provides the ideal venue.
The Kreisschützenfest changes its venue annually. In 2026, Scharnebeck will be the host. The municipality of Scharnebeck, southeast of Lüneburg, has the necessary infrastructure for the major event with its Schützenhaus. The organizing club on-site takes on a large part of the organization and co-hosts the festival.
The Kreisschützenfest is primarily an internal club event that brings together the officials and members of the affiliated clubs. It therefore offers a different atmosphere than the convivial village shooting festivals of individual clubs — more formal, focused on honors, with a higher representative character. The new district shooting kings and queens are officially presented here and represent the district until the next annual festival.
The exact detailed program for 2026 will be published by the shooting district in advance. The structure follows the proven key points:
