Handmade items, Advent decorations, and creative activities in the Amber Town
As November settles over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the days grow shorter, the Amber Town of Ribnitz-Damgarten invites you to its traditional Kreativmarkt. The event is part of the city's official cultural year highlights and is announced as a recurring date on the city's website.
The focus is on handmade gifts from regional workshops, festive decorations for the Advent season, and creative hands-on activities for families. The exhibitors come from the region around Saaler Bodden and Fischland-Darß-Zingst, so typical materials like amber, wood, felt, and maritime motifs characterize the market.
The market takes place in the city center, where Ribnitz and Damgarten – the two historic halves of the town – have grown together since their unification in 1950. The Amber Town is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, at the transition between the Bodden waters and the Baltic Sea, and the city's cultural year consciously emphasizes the connection between tradition, craftsmanship, and nature. The Kreativmarkt fits into this line and is considered a cozy start to the pre-Christmas season.
The city of Ribnitz-Damgarten officially announces the market for November 2026 as a permanent part of its cultural year. As in previous years, the focus will be on handmade products, Advent decorations, and hands-on activities. The exact weekend and participating exhibitors will be published on the municipal website during the autumn.
The market is designed as the start of the pre-Christmas season in the Amber Town – before the large Christmas market follows a few weeks later on the second Advent weekend.
The detailed exhibitor list and the 2026 supporting program will be published in autumn 2026 on bernsteinstadt.de. As in previous years, expect arts and crafts, Advent decorations from regional workshops, culinary stalls, and creative activities for children.
Admission to the market is free.
By train: Ribnitz-Damgarten West or Ribnitz-Damgarten Ost stations, both located on the Rostock–Stralsund line. It's only a few minutes' walk from the station to the city center.
By car: Via the B105 between Rostock and Stralsund, parking facilities in the city center are signposted.
Admission to the market is free – no specific entry fees are charged on the city's website.
A visit can be well combined with the German Amber Museum in the monastery and a walk along the Saaler Bodden.
