Kloster Wienhausen — A Pagan Settlement with Medieval Aura

Kloster Wienhausen was founded in the mid-13th century and today is one of the five Lüneburg monasteries that have continued as Protestant women's convents after the Reformation. The medieval convent choir with its world-famous wall and ceiling paintings is a unique testament to late medieval piety. The monastery attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually — and is also a venue for a vibrant cultural program.

Concerts in the Historic Convent Choir

The acoustics of the convent choir make every concert evening a special experience: chamber music, string quartets, and solo concerts benefit from the soundscape of this late Gothic structure.
