The Königslutter Town Church of St. Sebastian is centrally located in the city center and, with its striking tower, forms the landmark of the town's core. The Christmas market arranges its stalls around the church, thus utilizing one of the most beautiful inner-city backdrops in the region.

Over 20 Stalls

Over 20 stalls offer arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, natural cosmetics, woodwork, ceramics, honey, liqueurs, jams, mulled wine, punch, bratwurst, crêpes, roasted almonds, and sweet specialties. The selection is manageable but of high quality — the market avoids mass commercialism.

Family Program and St. Nicholas Visit

Children will find a dedicated program at the Christmas market: craft activities, storytelling, face painting, and the traditional visit from St. Nicholas with small gifts from his sack. The family-friendly opening hours on the weekend are deliberately coordinated with family daily routines.

Live Music on the Market Stage

Regional choirs, brass choirs, wind ensembles, solo artists, and bands will provide musical accompaniment on the market stage all three days. Advent songs, classics, and modern interpretations characterize the program.

Peace Light from Bethlehem

A special tradition is the reception of the Peace Light from Bethlehem, which is carried from Vienna to Germany and parishes every year in mid-December by scouts. In Königslutter, it is ceremonially passed on to the citizens.

Special Event: 24-Hour Swim

Separated in time from the Christmas market, but within the same calendar context, is the 24-hour swim at Lutterwelle (August 21st/22nd, 2026) as a popular summer event in the Königslutter sports and swimming calendar.
