Automobile show and Sunday shopping in the city center — March 22, 2026
For years, the Autofrühling Westerstede has been the unofficial season opener for the Ammerland district town. On a Sunday in March, the city center around Albert-Post-Platz and Peterstraße transforms into a spacious open-air exhibition for cars, commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers. Participating dealerships use the day to present new cars, hybrid, and electric models directly at the market square — with opportunities for test seating, advice, and personal conversations.
The event on March 22, 2026, adds a fresh accent: for the first time, a plant exhibition accompanies the car show. Garden centers and florists from the Ammerland will showcase spring bloomers, perennials, and garden accessories — a fitting addition in the garden-loving Rhododendron region. In parallel, Westerstede's shops will open from 1 p.m. for Sunday shopping.
Vehicles will enter the pedestrian zone starting at 11 a.m.. Restaurateurs from the city center will provide visitors with snacks, coffee, and spring drinks. Families will find activities for children, and music will accompany the stroll between the exhibition areas. The organizer is the Wirtschaftsforum Westerstede e.V. in cooperation with the city.
Westerstede, as the center of the Ammerland district, is particularly known for its rhododendron culture. The Autofrühling is part of a diverse event calendar that repeatedly makes the market square a meeting point for the region throughout the year.
The program follows the proven key points of previous years, supplemented by the new plant focus:
The detailed exhibitor list will be published by Wirtschaftsforum Westerstede e.V. in advance on the event website.
