Closing ceremony of the Koblenz Wine Festival 2026 with the coronation of the WeinKaiserWein at the Ufer-Bar
The WeinKaiserWein Festival Ceremony on July 11, 2026, marks the end of the Koblenz Wine Festival after 65 days of the official season. The venue is the Ufer-Bar on Schlossvorplatz, the festival's central meeting point with views of the Rhine and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. What is celebrated here is an unusual and appealing idea: the public selects their favorite from all the wines participating in the festival, which is then honored as the WeinKaiserWein of the Year.
The Koblenz Wine Festival ran from May 8 to July 11, 2026 – almost nine weeks during which the city at the Deutsches Eck became a showcase for the wine cultures of the Mosel, Mittelrhein, Ahr, and the four Koblenz vineyard sites (Ehrenbreitstein, Güls, Lay, Moselweiß). With the opening weekend on Josef-Görres-Platz, the Ufer-Bar as the summer meeting point, the Vinothek on Tour in four city districts, the Augusta Festival, Wine on the Water boat trips, the Electronic Wine Open Air, the Spring Wine Tasting, and many other formats, the festival demonstrated its versatility.
The concept of the WeinKaiserWein is democratic: during the festival season, visitors can vote for their favorite wine. The votes are collected, tallied, and the winner is announced at the festival ceremony evening in a formal celebration. It is therefore not a jury decision, but a public award – with all the possibilities that entails: from an unassuming local vineyard wine to a classic Mosel brand, anything is possible.
The coronation is celebrated in a public ceremony. Representatives of the City of Koblenz, Koblenz-Touristik, and the participating wineries present the WeinKaiserWein with a certificate and celebrate it with a live music performance and a communal toast. The public can taste the selected wine, often at a special price as the season's "farewell glass".
The Ufer-Bar often remains open beyond the official ceremony – as an urban summer meeting point for Koblenz residents and guests, frequently until the end of September. The ceremony is therefore less a final point than a transition into the second summer phase, when the Ufer-Bar becomes a pure summer bar.
On July 11, 2026, the WeinKaiserWein coronation will take place at the Ufer-Bar. The exact time and full program schedule will be published in advance by Koblenz-Touristik on weinfestival-koblenz.de. The ceremony is designed as a festive formal act followed by a convivial conclusion.
