Knöringen Wine Festival August

The Knöringen Wine Festival is a typical small Palatinate village wine festival: supported by the local municipality, the local vintners, and local clubs, without much advertising, but with all the more heartfelt atmosphere. It takes place every year on the 3rd weekend of August and lasts for five days – from Friday to the following Tuesday.

Knöringen Profile

With around 580 inhabitants, Knöringen is one of the smaller communities in the Edenkoben collective municipality. The village lies at the foot of the Palatinate Forest, nestled in vineyards and mixed forest, in close proximity to Edenkoben, Landau, and Villa Ludwigshöhe. Despite its small size, Knöringen has an active club structure that supports the wine festival organizationally.

Five Days of Wine Festival

The wine festival traditionally begins on Friday evening with the opening and the first wine service. Saturday and Sunday are the main days with the largest crowds; in the evenings, live music or DJ sets create the atmosphere. Monday and Tuesday offer quieter festival days with a more family-oriented atmosphere – ideal for those who want to enjoy the festival away from the hustle and bustle.

Wines and Specialties

The local vintners serve Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, and Pinot Noir, as well as seasonal specialties and cuvées. Accompanied by clubs and restaurateurs, classic Palatinate specialties are served: Saumagen, Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Flammkuchen, along with sweet delicacies and coffee specialties. The close connection between vintners, clubs, and the community makes the festival an authentic Palatinate experience.
