Three concert evenings in the baroque courtyard of Wiblingen Monastery near Ulm — Wincent Weiss (sold out), Montez, and Deep Purple
From June 26th to 28th, 2026, Wiblingen Monastery will open its courtyard for a three-day open-air concert series. The concept is simple and powerful: the former Benedictine abbey in Ulm-Wiblingen, with its baroque walls, the enclosed square of the monastery courtyard, and its exceptional acoustics, offers one of Southern Germany's most impressive open-air stages. Three concerts, three genres, three generations — from German pop to rap to a British rock legend.
Wiblingen Monastery is a former Benedictine abbey with roots dating back to the 11th century. The current baroque complex was developed from 1714 onwards and is one of the largest and most complete monastic ensembles in Southern Germany. The Library Hall, with its frescoes by Franz Martin Kuen, is considered one of the most beautiful Rococo library halls in Europe. Today, the monastery houses a museum (Klostermuseum Wiblingen, Schwäbisches Wallfahrtsmuseum) and serves as a venue. The courtyard, where the open-air concerts take place, is an enclosed square of baroque monastic buildings with the monastery church as a backdrop.
Wiblingen has been a district of Ulm in the south of the Danube city since 1972. The district is located about 5 km south of Ulm's city center; the monastery with its palace gardens is the main tourist attraction. Getting to the concert is easy by bus or car; concerts usually end between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM — return to the city center by bus or shuttle.
The 2026 concert series runs for three evenings and covers an extraordinary musical spectrum. Wincent Weiss opens the series on Friday with the kick-off concert of his summer tour — the date has been sold out for months. On Saturday, Montez from Bielefeld brings a modern hip-hop/pop show with festival energy. Sunday concludes the series with a show by the legendary rock band Deep Purple — the British band celebrated its 56th stage anniversary in 2024 and remains a top-tier concert event.
The Klosterhof itself is the main attraction: an enclosed baroque square of monastic buildings against which the concerts are performed. The acoustics in the open courtyard are exceptionally clear, and the setting, framed by historical walls, is emotionally charged.
