About Klangstraße

Once a year, Klangstraße transforms Residenzstraße ("Resi") in Reinickendorf-Ost into an open music stage. On Friday, October 9, 2026, from 3 PM to 9 PM, around 26 concerts will take place in shops, cafés, and restaurants along the street — featuring Latin, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Chanson, Klezmer, Classical, and music from Latin America, Africa, and the Balkans. Free admission. Organized by Kulturprojekte Kirschendieb & Perlensucher on behalf of the Reinickendorf District Office — as part of the "Lebendige Zentren und Quartiere" (Vibrant Centres and Neighbourhoods) programme. An annual fixture in Reinickendorf's cultural calendar since 2016.

Wandering Concerts through the "Resi"

Residenzstraße — "Resi" for short — is one of the main commercial streets in the Reinickendorf-Ost neighbourhood of the Reinickendorf district. On one Friday afternoon in October, it completely transforms for six hours: pharmacies and bakeries become concert halls, café counters turn into stages, and restaurant corners become Klezmer venues. Since 2016, Klangstraße has been a unique Berlin format — a wandering concert festival that flips the concept of traditional concert halls on its head, bringing music to where people shop every day.

26 Concerts on One Street

The 2026 edition takes place on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 3 PM to 9 PM. In approximately 26 concerts held in various shops, cafés, and restaurants along Residenzstraße, Berlin-based musicians of all genres will perform: Latin and Bossa Nova, Jazz and Blues, Rock and Pop covers, Folk and Chanson, Classical and Chamber Music, Klezmer and Eastern European Folk, music from Latin America, Africa, and the Balkans. The spatial arrangement encourages movement — audiences stroll from concert to concert, listening for 20–40 minutes before moving on.

Kirschendieb & Perlensucher as Curators

The organizers are Kirschendieb & Perlensucher Kulturprojekte — a Berlin-based curatorial duo commissioned by the Reinickendorf District Office, Department of Urban Planning, to develop the festival. This institutional backing is part of the "Lebendige Zentren und Quartiere" programme by the Senate Department for Urban Development, through which the state of Berlin and the federal government have been working for years to structurally strengthen Berlin's district centres. Klangstraße is one of the most successful examples of this policy — it has made Residenzstraße a well-known event location and culturally enhanced the entire neighbourhood.

District Councillor as Patron

The patronage is traditionally held by District Councillor Korinna Stephan, confirming the festival's institutional ties within Reinickendorf's political landscape. For the district, Klangstraße is an important visibility driver: a well-attended festival showcasing the district's diversity at a focused location — with no admission fee, no security checks, and no commercial market logic. This clearly distinguishes Klangstraße from commercial Berlin festivals and emphasizes accessibility in its programming.

Klangstraße — edition 2026

Klangstraße 2026 will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 3 PM to 9 PM on Residenzstraße in Reinickendorf. Approximately 26 concerts in various shops, cafés, and restaurants along the street. Styles include: Latin, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Chanson, Classical, Klezmer, and music from Latin America, Africa, and the Balkans. Free admission. Organized by Kirschendieb & Perlensucher on behalf of the Reinickendorf District Office, with patronage from District Councillor Korinna Stephan.

The 2026 edition continues the concept established in 2016: one Friday, six hours, one street, approx. 26 concerts. The venues are the shops, cafés, and restaurants along Residenzstraße — small spaces, intimate atmosphere, with 20–40 minute concert sets. The audience wanders from venue to venue, rediscovering the neighbourhood. The curatorial approach of organizers Kirschendieb & Perlensucher ensures a deliberate mix of styles and generations each year — from solo acoustic guitar to a five-piece Klezmer band.
