One of the oldest church fairs in the region around the historic old town
The Sinzig Kirmes dates back to the annual church fair around the patron saint's day of the parish church and remains one of the most traditional folk festivals in the region. For four days, the Kirmes takes over the city center, fundamentally changing the cityscape: where cafes normally set up their chairs, rides, stalls, and fairy lights tower to form their own small city within the city.
The offerings range from the classic children's carousel and the pony rides for the little ones to the Breakdancer and Taumler for teenagers. Bumper cars, duck fishing, dart throwing, and the shooting gallery with classic luck rounds are just as much a part of it as candy stalls, crepe stands, and game stalls with plush toys as prizes.
Drink and food stalls on all days ensure that the Kirmes is more than just riding carousels. Families meet for potato pancakes, clubs hold their regular get-togethers, and young people arrange to meet at the bumper cars. This social function makes the Kirmes a neighborhood festival in the truest sense of the word.
Sinzig has a compact old town with short distances. The Kirmes is therefore also easy to navigate for older visitors and families with strollers. The Sinzig traffic logic – train station, city center, castle – ensures clear routing on the festival days.
The city of Sinzig will close the central downtown streets to car traffic, creating a closed festival zone. Exact opening hours for the rides and the accompanying program by the clubs will be published on sinzig.de before the festival begins.
The complete detailed program for 2026 will be published by the city of Sinzig before the festival. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
