Hochwald Kirmes Tradition
The Kirmes Primstal is the annual village fair in the Primstal district of the municipality of Nonnweiler in the St. Wendel district. It traditionally takes place in mid-September — as the Hochwald forest transitions into its first autumn colours and the Schwarzwald fir trees slowly darken.
Four Days of Festival Grounds
Like most St. Wendel Kirmessen, Primstal's runs for four days: Opening on Wednesday or Friday evening with a beer tapping ceremony, live music in the festival tent on Saturday and Sunday, a morning pint (Frühschoppen) with brass band music and an early mass in the parish church on Sunday, and a family day on Monday.
What to Expect
- Festival tent with live music and DJ
- Carousels and fairground stalls
- Morning pint (Frühschoppen) on Sunday
- Family Day on Monday with reduced carousel prices
- Club catering: Bratwurst, steak, fries, draft beer
Primstal in the Hochwald
Primstal, with over 2,000 inhabitants, is the largest district of Nonnweiler and is located in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, directly on the edge of the Schwarzwälder Hochwald. For those who want to combine the Kirmes with a hiking weekend: the nearby Bostalsee lake is only fifteen minutes away, and the Hunnenring near Otzenhausen — a Celtic fortification — is right on your doorstep.
