Season Opening in the High Westerwald
Kirmes Nister is firmly anchored in the 2026 Westerwald district event calendar and is considered one of the first major Kirmes events of the year. It is organized by the local Kirmesgesellschaft Nister and takes place on the festival grounds in the Gewerbegebiet Zum Drahtzug – an area particularly suitable for a full-fledged Kirmes with rides, a festival tent, and outdoor areas. Nister belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Hachenburg in the High Westerwald, a region with a strong club culture and rich traditions.
Three Days, Three Styles
The program concept of Kirmes Nister focuses on musical diversity. Friday starts with the "Electric Neon-Night," a DJ format with DJ Moses, blacklight, and neon visuals, appealing to a young audience. Saturday is dedicated to the pop band D.C.K., who entertain the festival tent crowd with an energetic live set. Sunday combines traditional brass music with DJ sets: Ersberg Musikanten and Burgkapelle Hartenfels open the day, DJ Jan Becher takes over in the afternoon and evening.
Folk Festival Character
In addition to the stage program, Kirmes Nister offers the classic Westerwald folk festival (Volksfest) repertoire: a festival tent with catering, carousels, rides for children and teenagers, food stalls, candy stands, and beverage offerings. Families will find age-appropriate activities, making Sunday particularly popular.
Nister and the High Westerwald
Nister is located in the High Westerwald near Hachenburg and is accessible via the B 414 and L 281. The Kirmes benefits from its central location in the VG-Hachenburg area and attracts guests from the entire region, from Marienstatt to Bad Marienberg.
