Westerwald Village Kirmes
The Kirmes Girod is one of the traditional summer kirmes of the Montabaur administrative district and is anchored in the official Kirmes calendar 2026 of the VG Montabaur (as of October 2025). It follows a long line of Westerwald kirmes events that take place every weekend of the summer in different municipalities of the district, shaping rural festival life.
Three Days (Saturday to Monday) Program
From July 18, 2026, to July 20, 2026, the kirmes offers a classic Westerwald program including the opening of the festival tent with a keg tapping ceremony, dance and disco evenings, Frühschoppen on Sunday with club participation, and a family afternoon with coffee, cake, and carousels. Food stalls, sweet shops, and drink stands complement the festival tent events.
Club and Village Life
The local clubs and the municipal administration are the organizers of the kirmes, pooling their efforts for the joint summer festival. The fire department, sports clubs, music clubs, carnival associations, and youth groups participate in the program and catering. This makes the kirmes more than just an amusement area: it is an expression of a vibrant village community and living tradition in the Westerwald.
