A Traditional Franconian Kirchweih
The Kirchweih Uffenheim is celebrated every year at the beginning of September and is one of the major folk festivals in western Middle Franconia. For four days, it combines traditional customs, folk music, culinary specialties, and a varied family program.
Opening with Parade and Beer Tapping
The first day of the festival traditionally begins with a ceremonial parade from the town hall to the heated festival tent. There, the atmospheric beer tapping officially opens the festival. The Loscher brewery from Uffenheim supplies the festival beer, while the festival hosts Thorsten Lehrer and Michael Forster serve typical Franconian specialties.
Day of Folk Music
A unique highlight is the Day of Folk Music on Sunday: from 2 p.m. onwards, numerous music, singing, and dance groups perform in the city center. The Research Center for Franconian Folk Music opens its doors to visitors. Shops in the city center are open, and the gastronomy serves Franconian specialties.
Children and Families in Focus
Saturday evening is dedicated to the children's lantern parade, which leads from the town hall to the festival tent. A Fairtrade fashion show and football matches in the Seewiesenstadion round off the program. Monday is designed as Family Day with a business partner program, followed by the festive Kirchweih evening reception in the evening.
Spectacular Fireworks to Conclude
The grand finale is a large fireworks display on Monday evening, illuminating the Franconian sky above Uffenheim.
Uffenheim in the Aischgrund
Uffenheim is a small town with around 6,500 inhabitants in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim, in western Middle Franconia. The town is located on the edge of the Steigerwald forest and is known regionally as the home of the Research Center for Franconian Folk Music.
