Four-day Kirchweih in Schnelldorf with Markgräfliche Jäger, beer tapping, and festival tent
Schnelldorf is a municipality in the Ansbach district in western Middle Franconia, on the border with Baden-Württemberg. The Kirchweih here has the character of a typical Middle Franconian-Protestant Kirchweih — with beer tapping, a festival tent, shooting sports, and a close connection to local club life. It differs from Catholic Kirchweihen in Upper Bavaria through its roots in the Margravial tradition of Ansbach-Bayreuth.
The festival opens on Friday with the firing of the Böllerschützen on the festival grounds — an old tradition where volleys are fired with special cannons. Afterwards, the "Markgräfliche Jäger" Feuchtwangen fife and drum corps gives a concert in front of the festival tent. The Markgräfliche Jäger are a traditional music ensemble from the region, performing in historical costume of the former Margraviate of Ansbach.
This is followed by the traditional beer tapping ceremony. Afterwards, the "Abend der Betriebe" (Evening of the Businesses) begins — a festive evening where Schnelldorf companies invite their employees to the festival tent. The live band plays Bavarian festival tent music and popular hits throughout.
Parallel to the festival tent, there is a regional market with stalls for crafts, food, and specialties from the region. An amusement park with classic rides complements the program and makes the festival particularly attractive for families.
Schnelldorf is located in the Ansbach district in western Middle Franconia, directly on the A 6 motorway between Heilbronn and Nuremberg. The municipality, with around 4,000 inhabitants, has several active clubs whose commitment supports the organization of the Kirchweih.
The dates September 4–7, 2026, have been officially confirmed by the municipality of Schnelldorf and SF Events. Venue: Schnelldorf festival tent.
The program follows the established Kirchweih format of the past, with the Markgräfliche Jäger for the musical opening. Exact set times for the live bands and the complete amusement park program will be published in the summer of 2026 on the municipal website.
