The Kirchweih Mögeldorf — "Kärwa" in the Franconian dialect — is one of Nuremberg's most traditional district festivals. Unlike the city's major folk festivals, the focus here is on old Franconian Kirchweih customs, upheld by the young men and women of the district.

Pentecost at the Festival Grounds

Over the Pentecost weekend, the Kärwa enlivens the festival grounds at Satzinger Mühle on Kirchenberg. The program follows the traditional schedule of a Franconian Kärwa:

• Beer tapping ceremony with the marksmen and an association evening to kick things off
• Traditional Kärwazug (parade) through the district
• Beer Olympics and evening party
• Lunch and social gathering
• Festive church service, lunch, and dancing with lively music to conclude

Customs upheld by the Kärwabuam

The Kärwa is organized by the Mögeldorf Kärwabuam and Madla. This voluntary commitment by young people ensures the continuation of the customs and makes the Kärwa a festival that fosters identity for the entire district.
