191st Edition of One of Lower Saxony's Oldest Annual Markets
The Kirchdorfer Herbstmarkt has an extraordinary history: it has been held regularly since 1835, making it the 191st edition in 2026. This makes the market one of the oldest annual markets in Lower Saxony and deeply rooted in the history of the municipality of Kirchdorf. The market originally took place as a sales event for agricultural products and livestock, but over the decades it has evolved into a Volksfest (popular festival) with rides and a trade exhibition.
Three Days of Festivities: Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday
A special feature of the Kirchdorfer Markt is its spread over three days. Saturday and Sunday form the weekend program, but the actual "market day" is Wednesday — the second Wednesday in November. This unusual distribution has grown historically and makes the market an event that appeals to both weekend visitors and the working population on Wednesday.
70 Showmen and Rides
Around 70 showmen make the market a classic large Volksfest. On the festival grounds, you'll find Twister, Shaker, HipHop-Express, Horrorlabyrinth, dodgems, a Ferris wheel, carousels for children, and much more. Food stalls, sweet shops, and drink stands complement the offerings.
Trade Exhibition
In parallel with the funfair, the trade exhibition presents exhibitors from the region. Here, visitors can learn about and compare products and services.
