Children's Day at the Museum Village
The Children's Day at the Klockenhagen Open-Air Museum has a long tradition and takes place around International Children's Day in early June. Under the motto »Playing like in Grandma's Time«, the five-hectare museum village transforms into a large hands-on playground, showing children what everyday life and play were like in the past.
Hands-on Stations for the Whole Family
At numerous stations, children up to about 12 years old can get active themselves: crafting and playing with historical materials, a painting school, blacksmithing in the museum forge, baking in the wood-fired oven and at the field kitchen, as well as baking waffles. A newly built marble run in the threshing house and several creative marble games on the grounds provide additional fun. Carriage and tractor rides lead through the museum village.
Free Admission for Children
For children up to 14 years old, admission and all activities on Children's Day are free. Free popcorn is available for all children from an old English machine. Children's Day is therefore a particularly family-friendly festival that combines play, learning, and experience.
