Kerwe 2026 in Trippstadt – traditional Palatinate Kirchweih in the heart of the Pfälzerwald in mid-July.
The Kerwe Trippstadt is the annual Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Palatinate community of Trippstadt, a state-recognized health resort in the southwestern Pfälzerwald. From July 11th to 13th, 2026, the Kerwe will dominate the town center and serve as a meeting point for the approximately 3,000 residents and summer guests vacationing in the Pfälzerwald.
Trippstadt is located in the middle of the Pfälzerwald Nature Park, Germany's largest contiguous forest area. The striking Karlstal gorge, the Wilenstein Castle ruins, and the late Baroque Trippstadt Castle make the town a popular destination for hikers from all over the region. The Kerwe is the social highlight of the summer.
As everywhere in the Palatinate, the Trippstadter Kerwe follows a set rhythm: opening on Friday evening with a beer tapping ceremony, dance evenings with live music on the weekend, Frühschoppen (morning pint) on Sunday morning, Kerwe parade on Sunday afternoon, and the festival concluding in the evening. The Kerweborsch (Kerwe lads) and Kerweparrer (Kerwe priest) are central figures of the festival; the Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) is a humorous review of the year with local flavor.
A festival tent, beer benches, and a stage are set up on the festival grounds in the village center. The sports club, fire department, music club, and other local associations manage the catering, bar, and program. The menu features Palatinate classics: Saumagen (pig's stomach stuffed with meat and potatoes), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck), fries, and Schmalzgebäck (fried pastry). This is accompanied by draft beer and Palatinate wine from the Vorderpfalz region.
The highlight of the weekend is the Kerwe parade on Sunday afternoon. Decorated floats, music bands, the Kerweborsch, and local clubs march through the town streets; this is followed by the Kerwerede at the festival tent and continued festivities until late in the evening.
The Trippstadter Kerwe is not just a club festival but also a meeting point for summer guests, former residents of Trippstadt, and hiking groups from the region. It combines Palatinate customs with the relaxed atmosphere of the Pfälzerwald.
The Trippstadter Kerwe 2026 continues the annual Kerwe tradition. In the heart of the Pfälzerwald, the village becomes a stage for Palatinate customs for three days.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early summer. The structure follows the proven key points from previous years:
