Autumn Kerwe in an Oktoberfest atmosphere in the Oberarnbach district of VG Landstuhl
The Kerwe Oberarnbach is one of the popular autumn Kerwen around Landstuhl. Oberarnbach is a district of the town of Landstuhl in the Kaiserslautern district and is located on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. The Kerwe dates back to the old Kirchweih (church consecration) tradition but has developed over the years into a multi-day Volksfest (folk festival) with a festival tent that deliberately incorporates elements of the Bavarian Oktoberfest – from the decoration with blue-and-white diamonds and hop garlands to the brass music on Sunday morning.
Oberarnbach is accessible via the L 363 regional road between Landstuhl and Bann. Those arriving by car can park in the signposted meadows on the outskirts of the village. Public transport is accessible via Landstuhl train station and bus line; Landstuhl is on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway line.
The Kerwe tent can accommodate several hundred guests at long beer tent tables and is decorated with fairy lights and banners in the evenings. A separate cocktail and Schoppen (local wine/cider) corner completes the offering. During the day, children's rides and candy stalls create a family atmosphere, while the evenings are dedicated to live music. Palatinate specialties such as Schwenker (grilled meat skewers), Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Dampfnudeln (sweet steamed dumplings), Wurstsalat (sausage salad), and fries are complemented by Hax'n (pork knuckle), Brezeln (pretzels), and other Bavarian-inspired Schmankerl (delicacies).
The Kerwe Oberarnbach is collectively supported by the village's associations – the fire brigade, sports club, music club. The proceeds go towards the associations' activities and youth support. Thus, the Kerwe is not only a pleasure but also a contribution to the vibrant village community.
In 2026, the Kerwe will follow the proven four-day format. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in early autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
