Edigheim district Kerwe with parade, giant plum cake, show events, and live music
Edigheim is one of Ludwigshafen's northern districts and has largely retained its rural character. With its own marketplace, church, club life, and schools, it forms a compact unit in the north of the city.
The characteristic element of the Edigheimer Kerwe is the opening parade on Saturday: clubs, club banners, brass bands, and the district association march through the village center. They carry a giant plum cake – a plum cake made especially for the Kerwe in an impressive size in the bakery. The cake symbolizes the tradition of Edigheim's baking art and is later distributed to visitors.
The marketplace on Bürgermeister-Fries-Straße is the festival center. A festival tent, stage, food stalls, and smaller amusement ride offerings are set up here. Its location in the heart of the district ensures visibility and short distances for the citizens of Edigheim.
The program highlights performances by Edigheim's clubs: sports shows by gymnastics and sports clubs, choir performances by local choirs, musical contributions by youth bands and ensembles, and classic Kerwe program elements. Show events and amusement rides round off the festival.
The Edigheimer Kerwe coincides with the Oggersheim Kerwe in early September. Both are district festivals that continue the season after the August Kerwen. They are followed by Friesenheim at the end of September, Ruchheim in mid-September, and finally the October Kerwen in Maudach and Rheingönheim.
The marketplace becomes the festival backdrop. The parade and the giant plum cake have been hallmarks of the Kerwe for years.
The complete 2026 program will be published in good time by the district association and Lukom. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
