Kerwe Linden

The Kerwe Linden is the traditional Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Linden district near Krickenbach in the Kaiserslautern district. From September 26th to 29th, 2026, the four-day Kerwe will be celebrated – a central event in the annual cycle of the Palatinate Forest community.

Linden is a district of Krickenbach and is located in the middle of the Palatinate Forest Nature Park, south of Kaiserslautern. The small community maintains its own village identity alongside the main town of Krickenbach and celebrates an important club festival with its own Kerwe.

Four-day Palatinate Kerwe

The Lindener Kerwe is celebrated over four days from Saturday to Tuesday: Opening with barrel tapping on Saturday evening, main Kerwe day on Sunday with morning pint, lunch, Kerwe parade in the afternoon, and festival evening, Monday Family Day with Kerwe burial late in the evening, Tuesday winding down.

Kerweborsch and Tradition

As in every Palatinate village, Kerweborsch (Kerwe boys), Kerweparrer (Kerwe pastor), and Kerwestrauß (Kerwe bouquet) characterize the festival events. The humorous and satirical Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) on Sunday afternoon addresses village events, local anecdotes, and political events of the year.

Club Life and Catering

The local clubs – sports club, fire department, and others – provide the festival tent, bar, and catering. The menu features Palatinate classics: Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck), and fries. Draft beer and Palatinate wine accompany the festival weekend.

Meeting Point in the Forest

For the residents of Linden, the Kerwe is the social highlight of the year. It combines Palatinate tradition with the special atmosphere of the Palatinate Forest in early autumn.
