The traditional Eisenberg Kerwe in October – Volksfest with festival tent, rides, and Palatinate conviviality in the north of the Donnersbergkreis.
The Kerwe Eisenberg (Pfalz) is the annual Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Palatinate town of Eisenberg in the Donnersbergkreis. Eisenberg is located in the Eckbach valley on the border with Rheinhessen and is known for its industrial past as an iron, brick, and ceramic site. Even today, industrial companies shape the economic image of the town, but in October, the Kerwe traditionally takes center stage in urban life.
The venue for the Kerwe is the festival grounds in the city center, where a large festival tent, a stage, and several rides are set up. The program typically includes a dance evening on Friday with a live band, a mood or party evening on Saturday, the Kerwe parade on Sunday afternoon, and a family and seniors' day on Monday. A local brewery or brewery partners supply the festival tent with draft beer; Palatinate wines, hearty specialties, and Schmalzgebäck (a type of fried pastry) complete the offerings.
Unlike its agriculturally influenced neighboring towns, Eisenberg has a special industrial history. The Gienanth family operated an ironworks here since the 18th century; later, brick and ceramic works were added. The Kerwe is therefore also always a place where employees and families of the local companies meet – a social function that fulfills the festival beyond its purely religious or folk roots.
The local clubs – including the fire department, sports clubs, singing club, and carnival club – contribute significantly to the success of the event with their contributions, stalls, and helpers. Palatinate Kerwe customs with Kerweborsch (Kerwe boy), Kerwerede (Kerwe speech), and Kerwe parade are also firmly anchored in Eisenberg.
The Kerwe Eisenberg 2026 continues the annual tradition. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
