Carnival Stronghold VG Brohltal

The Brohltal municipality, with its administrative seat Niederzissen, is located at the transition from the Vulkaneifel to the Middle Rhine and belongs to the Ahrweiler district. In the many villages and districts of the VG, a vibrant Carnival tradition has developed over generations, expressed in a multitude of parades throughout the entire Carnival week. The Rose Monday parade in Niederzissen forms the grand centerpiece.

Niederzissen on Rose Monday

Niederzissen is the administrative seat of the VG Brohltal and the central location of the region. The Rose Monday parade winds through the main street and the town center, uniting local Carnival clubs, schools, and music bands in a joint performance. Floats, walking groups, dance troupes, and music bands provide a colorful spectacle. The assembly takes place in the early afternoon.

Weibern and Glees on Carnival Saturday

Already on Carnival Saturday, February 14, 2026, parades will take place in Weibern and Glees through the village centers. These village Carnival parades are smaller than the Niederzissen procession but are characterized by a special village atmosphere. The clubs often work in neighborly cooperation, so that floats and walking groups from several communities form the procession.

Königsfeld on Tulip Sunday and Dedenbach on Shrove Tuesday

On Tulip Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Carnival parade in Königsfeld, a district of the VG Brohltal, follows. The conclusion on Shrove Tuesday, February 17, 2026, is marked by the parade in Dedenbach. This staggered sequence allows Carnival enthusiasts to attend several parades consecutively and get to know the different accents of the individual village Carnival clubs.

Village Carnival with Character

The Brohltal village Carnival thrives on the close-knit club structure in the villages, where Carnival societies, fire brigades, sports clubs, and music bands collaborate. The floats are built over the year in the float halls, with motifs humorously addressing local topics, village stories, and supra-regional allusions. The Carnival parties in the village halls after the parades are often at least as important as the parades themselves.
