Autumn festival all about apples on the Kirchbrink in Nordstemmen
An orchard meadow has been newly established in recent years behind the rectory in Nordstemmen. In the medium term, it is intended to contribute to the supply of local fruit and also serves as an ecologically valuable habitat. The Apple Festival makes this meadow an experience: here, the apple is celebrated – not just as a product, but as a symbol of the connection between creation, agriculture, and community.
The highlight is the mobile cider press: visitors can bring their own apples and have them pressed into fresh juice on-site. In addition, there are potato pancakes (Reibekuchen) with apple sauce, coffee, cake, and autumn specialties. A children's carousel is available for kids, complemented by craft and hands-on stations centered around the apple.
Nordstemmen is located in the north of the Hildesheim district, on the Hanover–Göttingen railway line. The Stiftung St. Johannis is an important diaconal and cultural player in the town and hosts numerous events around the Kirchbrink. The Apple Festival is a prime example of how church and diaconal institutions can shape community life in a town.
The special attraction of the day is the mobile cider press. Visitors can bring their own apples and have them pressed into juice on-site – an experience that is particularly impressive for children.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by Stiftung St. Johannis Nordstemmen shortly before the event. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: mobile cider press throughout the festival day, potato pancakes (Reibekuchen) with apple sauce, coffee and cake, children's program with carousel, guided tours of the orchard meadow, and a convivial closing in the afternoon.
The Apple Festival takes place on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The exact time will be announced by the Stiftung St. Johannis.
