About Marktredwitz Wine Festival
Marktredwitz Wine Festival — edition 2026
Marktredwitz Wine Festival 2026
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of previous years: a wine evening in the historic courtyard, an international selection, live music, and free admission. Traditionally starting at 5 PM, open until late in the evening.
What to Expect in 2026
As of May 2026, the artist lineup for the live music has not yet been publicly confirmed – in previous years, duos like "Die Gschmeidigen" performed on stage. The wine list includes the established European wine regions plus organic wines, and the food offering remains regional and classic.

Wine Evening in the Courtyard
The Marktredwitz Wine Festival is a relatively young but well-established event in the Upper Franconian town of Marktredwitz in the Wunsiedel district of the Fichtelgebirge. The venue is the historic courtyard of St. Bartholomäus on Pfarrgasse – a stone-framed inner courtyard that is transformed into a romantic stage with warm lights for the festival evenings.
An International Wine Selection
Wines from the four major wine-producing countries in Europe are served in the courtyard:
- Germany – Rieslings and regional specialties
- Austria – Grüner Veltliner and more
- Italy – selected reds and whites
- France – classic appellations
- Additionally, organic wines – with a growing trend
For those who prefer not to drink wine, there are Gin Tonics, Mojitos, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks. In previous years, the beverage service was provided by breweries like Nothhaft, and the non-alcoholic selection was managed by the Sticky Fingers team.
Culinary Delights
The food offering is regional and simple: onion cake (a classic accompaniment to Federweißer and young wine), potato soup, schnitzel, and various small bites. The focus is clearly on the wine – the food complements the evening rather than being the main attraction.
Music and Atmosphere
Live music accompanies the festival – most recently, the duo "Die Gschmeidigen". The courtyard is illuminated to highlight the historic architecture: warm, indirect light on the sandstone walls, candles on the standing tables, and long tables in the courtyard. It is precisely this atmosphere that has made the festival a fixed date for Marktredwitz residents and guests from all over the Fichtelgebirge.
Marktredwitz in the Sechsämterland
Marktredwitz is the largest town in the Wunsiedel district of the Fichtelgebirge (Upper Franconia, Bavaria) and is located on the Bavarian-Czech border. The town calls itself the "Gateway to the Fichtelgebirge" – a wine festival might seem unusual in a region historically more associated with beer. That's precisely its charm: a Mediterranean evening in northern Bavaria.
