Traditional marquee fair in Kalenborn with barrel tapping, king's procession, Malle party, and historical photo exhibition
The municipality of Kalenborn is located in the southern part of the Neuwied district and belongs to the Linz am Rhein collective municipality. The community cultivates a strong club culture and celebrates its fair as the highlight of early summer. Unlike the large city fairs of Neuwied, Kalenborn sticks to the classic village fair format with a central festival tent and a manageable number of showmen.
Friday focuses on a younger audience and a party atmosphere with barrel tapping, club competitions, and the 'Malle Party'. Saturday brings the traditional touch with the king's procession — during which the fair king and queen, or a club and the festival committee, process into the festival tent. Sunday is particularly aimed at families: church service, 'Frühschoppen' with the Kuhlen Musikanten, and a relaxed afternoon with cake.
A special feature of the 2026 edition is the historical photo exhibition: Members of the village club and residents have gathered photos from several decades of village history, which will be shown in the festival tent. A contribution that strengthens the identity of the village community and particularly appeals to older generations.
The region around Linz am Rhein combines the romance of the Middle Rhine with the rural character of the Westerwald. The Kalenborner Zeltkirmes is one of the village festivals that keep this culture alive and attract visitors from neighboring Asbach, Vettelschoß, Linz, and the Asbacher Land.
The Kalenborn Festival Committee organizes the fair with the support of local clubs. The festival tent will be set up on the central festival grounds. Safety and catering concepts are tailored for a family audience of several hundred guests.
