Kaiserslautern Brown Night – City Anniversary Beer Premiere

A Special Edition for the Anniversary Year

The Lautrer Braunacht 2026 is the third edition of the event and coincides with Kaiserslautern's 750th city anniversary. For this occasion, the Karlsberg Brewery from Homburg has brewed an exclusive special edition: a city anniversary beer developed especially for the anniversary, which will be presented to the public for the first time as part of the Braunacht on June 27, 2026. The Braunacht thus becomes the beer-historical highlight of the anniversary year and, at the same time, a day of encounter between the brewery, the city, and its residents.

Karlsberg and Kaiserslautern

Karlsberg, founded in 1878 in Homburg an der Saar, is one of the largest breweries in the German-French border region and has been a central beer supplier for the entire Westpfalz and Saarland for generations. The Karlsberg brands – Karlsberg Pils, Karlsberg Urpils, Karlsberg Mixery, Karlsbräu – are omnipresent in the region. With the Lautrer Braunacht, the brewery establishes a regular connection to Kaiserslautern, which is an important market for Karlsberg as a Palatinate city. The 2026 anniversary beer is the crowning glory of this connection.

The Day of the Premiere

The event begins on Saturday, June 27, at 4 PM with the traditional keg tapping on the festival grounds, which this time celebrates the city anniversary beer. The mayor and brewery representatives will jointly perform the tapping and be the first to taste the new beer. From 7 PM, the surrounding gastronomy will open and integrate the anniversary beer into their offerings, allowing the premiere to extend from the festival grounds to the entire city center.

Three Special Beers

In addition to the anniversary beer, Karlsberg will present two other specialty beers as part of the Braunacht: Karlsberg Zwickel, a naturally cloudy, uncarbonated lager in the traditional brewer's style, and Karlsberg Nachtschicht, a darker, stronger beer specifically developed for evening enjoyment. With live music, DJ sets, and regional gastronomy on the festival grounds and in the surrounding city center, a city festival atmosphere is created that connects the beer theme with the broader 750-year celebrations.
