Three days of open-air music festival on Ascension Day on the car-free North Sea island of Juist
Juist is the car-free East Frisian island located between Borkum and Norderney. Horse-drawn carriages instead of cars, sandy beaches, dune landscapes, and a manageable island village form the backdrop for Juistival. Over the Ascension Day weekend, the stages are spread across the central Kurplatz, in several bars, and – as the most unusual location – at the island's airfield.
The program focuses on maximum breadth: Rock bands and indie acts, DJs and electronic music on the bar floors, acoustic and singer/songwriter sets on the beach or in more intimate settings. International guests mingle with emerging North German acts. Festival-goers travel between locations on foot or by bicycle – this also contributes to the charm.
Admission to all concerts is free. Those who wish to support the festival can purchase a festival wristband for €25 as identification and a contribution of solidarity. This keeps Juistival an open, accessible event that is just as welcoming to day-trippers as it is to holidaymakers.
A children's program makes Juistival attractive for families too. Workshops, play stations, and child-friendly concert formats expand the main musical program. The island also offers ideal conditions: short distances, fresh air, plenty of outdoor space.
Juistival 2026 coincides traditionally with the start of the season on Juist. Those spending a long weekend on the island will experience the emerging spring climate on the North Sea alongside the festival and can explore the beach, dunes, and Wadden Sea between concerts.
The exact lineup for 2026 will be published on juistival.de/timetable in good time before the festival. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Island of Juist (Aurich district, North Sea). Several stages: Kurplatz (main stage), various bars in the island center, Juist airfield.
Thursday to Saturday, May 14–16, 2026 (Ascension Day weekend).
Free admission. Festival wristband: €25 to support the organization.
By ferry from Norddeich (departing from Norden). Juist is car-free: from the harbor, continue on foot, by bicycle, horse-drawn carriage, or electric island taxi.
Hotels, guesthouses, and holiday apartments available through the spa administration. Book early, as Ascension Day is a peak season on the island.
