Three-day late summer wine market on the Traben-Trarbach Moselle riverbank with vintner stands and live music
The Joyful Wine Market takes place every year in September on the Traben-Trarbach riverside promenade. The event is conceived as a more compact wine festival that celebrates the magic of late summer on the Moselle – milder temperatures, long evenings, the start of the grape harvest, and the first Federweißer (new wine) shape the atmosphere.
On the festival mile, vintners from Traben-Trarbach and the surrounding Middle Moselle region offer their wines by the glass. Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Sekt (sparkling wine), and, depending on the season, the first Federweißer are the focus. Regional stands serve Flammkuchen (flatbread pizza), Bratwurst (grilled sausage), Winzervesper (vintner's snack), and sweet specialties.
A central stage provides musical entertainment. Cover bands, regional acts, mood music, and walking acts create a relaxed festival atmosphere, which clearly stands out from the larger and more representative Moselle Wine Festival in July or the elaborate Jakobstag (St. James' Day) of the Stadtschreber. The character is open, accessible, and very convivial – a meeting point for locals, regulars, and day-trippers from the region.
With the Joyful Wine Market in September, the Moselle Wine Festival in July, and the Jakobstag of the Stadtschreber at the end of July, Traben-Trarbach boasts a dense summer and late summer event calendar. Those who wish to combine several dates can experience multiple facets of the wine town on extended weekends.
The Joyful Wine Market 2026 starts on Friday afternoon and runs throughout the weekend until Sunday evening. The atmosphere changes throughout the day: during the day, hikers and families dominate, while in the evening, the riverbank fills with a convivial, very mixed crowd.
The program relies on the proven elements of a Moselle wine market: glass service by the vintners themselves, regional food, a central music stage, and the unique ambiance of the Traben-Trarbach riverside promenade with views of the river and the opposite Traben side.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The list of participating vintners and catering stands will be published on the Traben-Trarbach town website shortly before the market.
Traben-Trarbach is accessible by car via the B 53 and B 50, and by train via the Moseltalbahn from Bullay. Additional Moselle buses will be in operation during the wine market.
Free admission. Wine and food are paid for at the glass stands or at the food stalls.
