JOSKA Christmas Land Bodenmais
Two Months of Christmas in the Glass Paradise of the Bavarian Forest
2026
About JOSKA Christmas Land
JOSKA Christmas Land — edition 2026
The 2026 season of JOSKA Christmas Land spans two full months. During this time, the glass paradise is transformed into a Christmas world, redesigned each year – with the iconic Christmas tree made of wine glasses as its unshakeable centerpiece. Preparing this tree takes two employees six weeks before the opening, with assembly taking another two weeks.
Starting December 25, the winter village complements the concept: wooden huts offering mulled wine, bratwurst, and grilled specialties under the open sky. On December 29, the Perchten performance takes place – masked dancers from the Alpine 'Rauhnacht' tradition perform among the glass artworks, an extraordinary encounter between glass and custom.

Glass Meets Christmas
In Bodenmais in the Bavarian Forest, one of the strongholds of Bavarian glass art, Christmas is celebrated for two months: From November 1 to December 31, 2026, JOSKA Weihnachtsland takes place at the JOSKA Glasparadies at Am Moosbach 1. An extraordinary combination of Christmas exhibition, market, experience restaurant, and glass handicrafts – spread over 1,500 m².
The 8-Meter Christmas Tree Made of Wine Glasses
The highlight is a Christmas tree unlike any other in the world: 8 meters high, constructed entirely from wine glasses and adorned with 550 Christmas baubles, 150 fir branches, and countless ribbons. Six weeks of preparation and two weeks of assembly are required for two people to set up this glass artwork anew each year.
The World's Largest Christmas Bauble
In addition, JOSKA Glasparadies presents what it claims to be the world's largest Christmas bauble: 5 kilograms in weight, 60 cm in diameter. A creation from their own glassworks that attracts thousands of visitors for photos each year.
Market, Winter Village, and Perchten
The actual Christmas market covers 1,500 m². On offer: Christmas baubles in all styles (from nostalgic to modern), floristry, gift items, and glass decorations. Starting December 25, the winter village expands the concept: mulled wine, grilled specialties, cozy wooden huts. On December 29, the Perchten perform in the Glasparadies – traditional Bavarian-Alpine masked figures who symbolically drive away evil spirits during the 'Rauhnächte' (the twelve nights between Christmas and Epiphany). On weekends, duck and goose dishes are served in the experience restaurant for a festive feast.
Bodenmais – Glass Capital of the Bavarian Forest
Bodenmais is a climatic health resort in the district of Regen, nestled between Großer Arber (the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest) and Silberberg. The JOSKA glassworks has one of its locations there and is one of the largest tourist attractions in the Bavarian Forest. The Christmas Land attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually – a must-visit for family outings during Advent.
