The American jazz guitarist with 20 Grammys on the JazzNights tour 2026
Since the 1970s, Pat Metheny has been one of the most influential voices in jazz worldwide. With the Pat Metheny Group sound of the 1980s, he defined his own style between jazz, Latin, and fusion; from the 2000s onwards, he distinguished himself in ever-new solo and ensemble projects. His list of awards is one of the most impressive in modern music history: 20 Grammy Awards in various categories, three gold albums, membership in the DownBeat Hall of Fame.
For JazzNights 2026, Metheny is traveling to Flensburg with his project Side-Eye III+ — a formation in which he gathers young top musicians around him. Participating in 2026:
The repertoire combines Metheny classics with new pieces — the Side-Eye series is explicitly intended as a platform for Metheny's own further development.
JazzNights 2026 brings Metheny to nine German cities: Flensburg, Lübeck, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Dortmund, Freiburg, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt. Flensburg is the northernmost stop — and thus, for many visitors from Schleswig-Holstein and southern Denmark, the geographically closest opportunity to experience a Metheny performance.
The Deutsches Haus in Flensburg is the most important concert and event venue in Germany's northernmost city — a representative venue with good acoustics and a capacity that is fitting for an artist of Metheny's stature. Located directly on the harbor, within walking distance of the old town.
Flensburg is Germany's northernmost independent city, located right on the Danish border, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. With its old town, harbor, Scandinavian flair, and active cultural scene, Flensburg is a worthwhile excursion for cultural travelers from Hamburg, Lübeck, or Sønderborg.
American jazz guitarist Pat Metheny will be performing at the Deutsches Haus Flensburg as part of his tour. On stage: Metheny's Side-Eye III+ formation — a platform where he gathers young top musicians around him.
Side-Eye concerts combine Metheny classics with new works. The exact setlist is traditionally decided on the concert evening itself — part of Metheny's live philosophy.
By train to Flensburg (ICE stop) — Deutsches Haus is a 5-minute walk away. By car via the A7 (Flensburg exit). Parking available in the city center and at the harbor.
Tickets available via ticketonline.de and Eventim. Advance booking recommended — Metheny performances in German cities usually sell out.
Doors open at 7:00 PM, concert starts at 8:00 PM. Seated concert in the concert hall of the Deutsches Haus.
