About Jazz Festival Spiekeroog

The International Jazz Festival Spiekeroog is one of Germany's most renowned small jazz festivals. The 19th edition will take place from April 14th to 19th, 2026, on the car-free East Frisian island of Spiekeroog. 19th Edition – Jazz on the car-free island

The International Jazz Festival Spiekeroog is an institutional fixture in the German jazz scene. With its 19th edition in 2026, the festival confirms itself as one of the most distinctive small jazz festivals in Northern Germany. From April 14th to 19th, 2026 – over six days – the festival will utilize several venues on the car-free North Sea island of Spiekeroog. The island's atmosphere makes the festival an event with a very unique charm.

Artistic Direction by Frank Muschalle

For years, the artistic direction of the festival has been in the hands of Frank Muschalle – one of Europe's most significant boogie-woogie pianists. Muschalle has had an international career, played with greats like Axel Zwingenberger, and made a name for himself as an organizer. His taste shapes the festival's programming: Swing, Classic Jazz, Blues, and especially Boogie Woogie.
