About Jakobsmarkt

The Jakobsmarkt is one of the most traditional market events on the Middle Rhine. On the last two Sundays in July, over 200 itinerant traders transform the city center of Remagen into a large open-air market with fashion, household goods, food, toys, and antiques. A flea market for children complements the offerings. Admission is free, and it is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is firmly anchored in the city's tradition and regularly attracts day-trippers from the entire Rhine-Ahr region.

Over 200 Itinerant Traders

The Jakobsmarkt is one of the region's major traditional markets. On two Sundays at the end of July, over 200 itinerant traders move through Remagen's city center, offering a wide range of products. Fashion, fabrics, household items, tools, toys, regional food products, and antiques line the main thoroughfares, forming a market tour that can take several hours to complete without rushing.

Children's Flea Market and Family Audience

A children's flea market takes place parallel to the main market, where children can set up their own stalls and sell toys, books, and clothing. This family-friendly component makes the Jakobsmarkt more than just a shopping event; it is also a social meeting point for families from Remagen and the surrounding area.

Gastronomy and Summer Atmosphere

Cafés, restaurants, and snack stands along the market streets provide refreshments. Those who combine the market with a stroll along the Rhine promenade experience Remagen at its most attractive tourist point: between the medieval old town, the well-known Apollinaris Church, and the famous bridgehead of the former Remagen Bridge.

Tradition for Generations

The Jakobsmarkt dates back to the annual veneration of Saint James and remains a central summer date in the city's event calendar. It is organized by the City of Remagen with the support of the Tourist Information office.

Jakobsmarkt — edition 2026

The 2026 Jakobsmarkt will take place on two Sundays: July 19 and July 26, each from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Over 200 itinerant traders will present their range in Remagen's city center; a children's flea market will run in parallel. Admission is free, and the city center's gastronomy will complement the offerings with summer terraces and snack stands.

The market stalls will be spread across the central axes of the pedestrian zone. Increased visitor numbers are expected on both Sundays, especially in the late morning.
