Munich's largest electronic open-air series
For years, Isle of Summer has been Munich's most important open-air event series in the electronic music scene. The concept includes three seasonal dates: the Opening in May, the big Festival in June, and the Beach event in August. The festival – the central seasonal date – takes place at the Olympia Reitanlage Riem, one of the largest open-air areas in eastern Munich.
Olympia Reitanlage – Munich's historic event venue
The Olympia Reitanlage in Munich-Riem was built for the 1972 Olympic Summer Games and is now one of Bavaria's most important equestrian centres. The sprawling grounds offer the infrastructure and space required for a festival of this magnitude – with room for four stages, catering areas, and several thousand festival guests.
Four stages, four sounds
The musical architecture for 2026 includes four stages:
- Sunrise Stage – Melodic Techno and Progressive House
- Field Stage – Main open-air stage with headliners
- Moon Stage – Darker, harder sounds
- Track Stage – Hard Techno, Acid, Gabber, Hardtrance, Hardstyle
This covers the entire spectrum of modern electronic music – from accessible Melodic Techno to uncompromising Hardstyle.
Over 20 international acts
The 2026 lineup brings together top international acts from the electronic scene:
- Boris Brejcha – German High-Tech-Minimal star, founder of the genre
- Fisher – Australian Tech-House headliner, booked internationally
- Miss Monique – Ukrainian Melodic Techno DJ
- Novah – Emerging Melodic Techno artist
- Holy Priest, A.N.I., and over 15 other international DJs
The lineup is continuously announced on isleofsummer.de and Instagram; a season ticket grants access to all three seasonal events (Opening, Festival, Beach).
Long tradition for over a decade
According to the organisers, the festival is in its 14th edition in 2026 – making Isle of Summer one of Munich's oldest electronic festival brands. The event company is based in Reichenbachstrasse in Munich's Glockenbachviertel and is deeply rooted in the Munich club scene.
Munich as an electronic city
Munich is not among the capitals of electronic music like Berlin or Frankfurt, but it has its own distinct scene: clubs like *Blitz*, *Harry Klein*, *Rote Sonne*, and Strom events shape the city's life. Once a year, the Isle of Summer Festival brings this scene out of the clubs and into the summer open-air – a counterpart to the Wiesn traditions, showcasing a different side of Munich.
