Bavaria's classic autumn Volksfest on the Dreizehnerstraße fairground
The Ingolstadt Autumn Volksfest looks back on over 100 years of history. Together with the Spring Volksfest, it forms the second pillar of a biannual folk festival tradition that has shaped the city of Ingolstadt for generations. Both events attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from Ingolstadt, the Eichstätt district, Region 10, and all of Upper Bavaria.
From September 25 to October 4, 2026, the Dreizehnerstraße fairground will transform into an open festival mile with large beer tents, showmen's stalls, rides for families and thrill-seekers, and traditional delicacy stands. Over the ten days, family days, classic festival evenings, and special events will alternate.
As with any classic Bavarian Volksfest, there are central elements that have been established over decades:
Ingolstadt, with around 140,000 inhabitants, is the fifth-largest city in Bavaria, home to the Audi plant, and an important economic center in Region 10. The Volksfest is one of the city's central cultural constants — a meeting place for families, work colleagues, and clubs. The tradition is maintained by the City of Ingolstadt's Cultural Office and is adapted annually to changing focuses (family days, Bavarian evening, traditional costume evening).
The Dreizehnerstraße fairground in northern Ingolstadt has been the permanent location for the city's folk festivals for decades. Easily accessible by public transport and car, it offers ample space for the large beer tents and the ride mile.
The 2026 edition continues the centuries-old tradition of the Autumn Volksfest. As every year, the beer tent operators, together with the City of Ingolstadt's Cultural Office, are putting together a diverse program of live music, beer tent entertainment, family days, and special themed evenings.
Detailed information on festival beers, band confirmations, family days, and dates for special program points (opening parade, Bavarian Evening, traditional costume evening, grand finale fireworks) will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on volksfest.in and kulturamt-ingolstadt.de.

Ingolstadt is located on the A9 motorway (exit Ingolstadt Nord). Dreizehnerstraße fairground is in the northeast of the city. By public transport: City bus lines towards the fairground, especially on festival weekends with additional special services. Ingolstadt Central Station (Hbf), then take a bus.
Admission to the fairground is free. Food and drink in the beer tents are at typical Volksfest prices (liter of beer approx. €12–€14, roast chicken approx. €15–€18).
On family days, there are often reduced prices for rides at the showmen's attractions — exact dates available at volksfest.in.
