Schützenfest Drüpplingsen

A Century of Tradition

The Bürgerschützenverein BSV Drüpplingsen e.V. was founded in 1924 and has since been the largest and oldest association in the small village of Drüpplingsen, an eastern district of Iserlohn in the Märkischer Kreis (state of North Rhine-Westphalia). The Schützenfest – firmly scheduled for the June weekend near Pentecost – is the undisputed highlight of the association's year and one of the most important events in the village calendar.

2026 Programme: Four Days in the Village Square

The festival runs from Friday, June 12th to Monday, June 15th, 2026. The venue is the Dorfplatz an der Heidestraße 6 in Drüpplingsen. The festival week follows the proven structure of German Schützenfeste, with a May procession and shooting season in the run-up:

• Friday, 12.06.: Muster, church service or commemoration, Zapfenstreich (final drum call), festival evening.
• Saturday, 13.06.: Vogelschuss (bird shooting) – determination of the new royal couple; Schützenball in the evening.
• Sunday, 14.06.: Grand parade through Drüpplingsen, proclamation of the king, coronation ball in the evening.
• Whit Monday, 15.06.: Frühschoppen (morning pint) with the four companies and the marching band, festival finale.

Marching Band and Four Companies

The BSV Drüpplingsen is divided into four companies (1st to 4th Company) and its own marching band – a typical Westphalian organizational model. In the run-up, company roll calls take place in May and an 'Artillery Party' on June 11th, 2026. After the festival, there are traditionally clean-up activities at the festival grounds – this is also a natural part of community life in a village.

Tickets and Advance Sales

Some parts of the programme – especially the festival balls – require tickets. Tickets are available through the Proticket system (proticket.de/veranstaltung/18595-schuetzenfest-druepplingsen) or directly from the association. The parades themselves are free to attend.

Drüpplingsen in the Sauerland Foothills

Drüpplingsen is located in eastern Iserlohn, on the transition to the Hönne valley and the western Sauerland. The district is rural, with a dense network of associations and short distances to hiking trails, caves, and small farms. It is precisely this mix – a compact village community with active traditions, embedded in a larger Westphalian town – that makes the Drüpplingsen Schützenfest an authentic example of rural Westphalian festival culture.
