Kick-off of the Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals 2026 at the Winzerkeller in the Red Wine City of Ingelheim am Rhein
Ingelheim am Rhein is known as the Red Wine City – a title that dates back to the Carolingian era and refers to the imperial palace buildings of Charlemagne and the centuries-old tradition of Pinot Noir cultivation. With the Spring Wine Festival at the Ingelheim Winzerkeller, the season of the Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals begins each year. This series of courtyard festivals is spread over several weekends from May to August, highlighting the open doors of the Ingelheim vintners.
The Winzerkeller is the central cooperative winery of the region. Here, the grapes from numerous member estates converge, and the top Ingelheim wines are developed and marketed. On the first May weekend, the Winzerkeller opens its outdoor areas and invites you to a three-day open-air wine festival. The current vintage wines are the focus: Pinot Noir in various styles, Frühburgunder, Riesling from Mainzer Berg, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Rosé, and Sekt from Rhenish Hessian vines.
In parallel, Weingut Hamm opens its courtyard for a garden festival, connecting the weekend with two events in different locations within the Red Wine City. Those who wish can move from one festival site to the next, discovering the different styles of the Ingelheim wineries.
The culinary offerings include typical Rhenish Hessian dishes: Spundekäs, Handkäs mit Musik, Bratwurst, steaks, Flammkuchen, cheese platters, homemade salads, and seasonal asparagus specialties. Live music accompanies the evenings, the beer benches fill up, and the convivial tables become meeting points for visitors from Rheinhessen, the Rheingau, and the wider region.
The Spring Wine Festival at the Winzerkeller has been awarded multiple times as "Rheinhessen AUSGEZEICHNETES Weinfest" – an award from the regional tourism and wine association for wine festivals of particularly high quality in wine selection, atmosphere, and service. With the kick-off at the Winzerkeller, the series of Ingelheim Wine Cellar Festivals begins, which then continues over several weekends to the open courtyards of the Ingelheim wineries.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of previous years: three days of wine enjoyment at the Winzerkeller, current vintages from Ingelheim's top wineries, regional cuisine, live music, and the popular atmosphere of a Rhenish Hessian courtyard festival. With the kick-off at the Winzerkeller, the Wine Cellar Festivals season begins, which then continues over several weekends to the open courtyards of the Ingelheim wineries.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: a three-day wine festival at the Winzerkeller with wine service, Rhenish Hessian cuisine, and live music.
