Polo on the Baltic Sea Beach

Beach polo is a distinct form of classic horse polo. Instead of a large grass field with four players per team, it is played on a sand arena with only two players per team — faster, more tactical, more physical. The arena is newly created in the sand each year, the game principle remains: two riders, one ball, one goal.

Move from Warnemünde to Kühlungsborn

After many years in Warnemünde, the tournament moves to Kühlungsborn for the first time in 2026. The venue is the Kühlungsborn Ost sports beach, where an arena will be set up west of the harbor. With its five kilometers of beach and established event infrastructure, Kühlungsborn offers the framework required for an international tournament of this magnitude.

International Teams, Argentine Ponies

Eight international teams will compete, including Team IceGuerilla, Allianz Kundler, and Ostseetraum/Scavi & Ray. Around 50 Argentine polo ponies, considered top-class in this specialized discipline, will be in action. Spectators can visit the ponies in the stable tents and follow the games up close.

Free Admission

The tournament is open to the public: free admission, with spectators standing right at the edge of the field. A family program and supporting events accompany the games. Playing times: Friday from 2 PM, Saturday from 1 PM, Sunday from 12 PM.

Sport on the Baltic Sea Beach

Beach polo is considered the "fastest team sport in the world" — the combination of horse, sand, and the Baltic Sea creates images rarely seen in the German sports landscape. Kühlungsborn 2026 is the new home base for this international tournament.
