Two Organizers, One Concept

The Holdorf Christmas Market is jointly organized by the association Zukunft für Jugend Holdorf e.V. and the Gewerbeforum Holdorf. This combination links volunteer commitment to youth with the interests of local retail and makes the market a community project, the proceeds of which at least partially benefit charitable causes.

1st Advent Weekend — A Conscious Choice

The timing on the 1st Advent weekend is a deliberate decision by the organizers: While the major cities open their Christmas markets in mid or late November and run them for six weeks, Holdorf opts for a compact weekend format at the traditional start of Advent. This emphasis protects the village character and makes the market the true kickoff to the Advent season for the residents.

Rathausplatz as the Market Setting

The Rathausplatz Holdorf provides a suitable market backdrop even in winter. With fairy lights, fir green, and a central Christmas tree, an Advent atmosphere is created where mulled wine stands, craft and handicraft stalls, food vendors, and stalls from local associations find their place. The central location allows easy access from all parts of the town.

Program and Atmosphere

Both market days offer a diverse program of handicrafts, culinary delights, and music. Local choirs, brass bands, and schools contribute to the Advent mood with performances. Associations serve soups, bratwurst, potato pancakes, mulled wine, children's punch, and cocoa. For the little ones, there are craft stations, an appearance by St. Nicholas, and small hands-on activities.
