Hobby – Art – Talent
The name HoKuTa says it all: Hobby, Art, Talent. What began about 15 years ago as a small gathering of creative people in Bous has grown into a registered club with over 150 active members. The chairman, board, and a network of hobby artists, craftspeople, and collectors meet weekly on Mondays at 6:00 PM in the club house "Kulturburg" at Saarbrücker Straße 118, the former Bous town hall.
The Annual Hobby Exhibition
The highlight of the club's year is the grand Hobby Exhibition in the Südwesthalle Bous. Over a weekend in November, 50 to 60 exhibitors present their work – regularly including many artists from nearby Lorraine, making the exhibition a cross-border encounter. The full spectrum of creative endeavors is on display: painting, sculpture, woodwork, textile art, model making, jewelry, ceramics, patchwork, and much more.
Bous in the Saarlouis District
The municipality of Bous is located in the Saarlouis district, directly on the banks of the Saar river and on the Saarbrücken–Trier railway line. With around 7,000 inhabitants, it is one of the smaller municipalities in the district but is one of the liveliest places in the western Saar region due to its active club life. The Südwesthalle is the largest event venue in the municipality.
More Than Just an Exhibition
Throughout the year, the club hokuta Bous e.V. organizes various activities: Boules gatherings (Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4:00 PM), card game afternoons (Thursdays 4:00 PM), monthly hikes, its own Kulturburgfest, and the annual "Art Bous" event, where regional painters create their works on-site. Since 2016, the club has also competed with its own teams in the Boules league.
Character of the Exhibition
The HoKuTa differs from commercial art fairs: Here, hobby artists present their personal projects, often without the intention of selling. Those interested in authentic creativity in a more intimate atmosphere will find a rare opportunity to talk directly with the creators.
