Festival at a Franconian Wine Estate
The Hoffest at Weingut Meintzinger is one of the most well-known May wine festivals in the Maindreieck region of Lower Franconia. The venue is the historic courtyard of Weingut and Hotel Meintzinger in Frickenhausen am Main (Würzburg district, Bavaria), a characteristic Franconian wine-growing community with half-timbered houses, town walls, and three city gates on the Main river. The host is the Meintzinger wine-growing family, whose winery belongs to the hotel of the same name.
Four Days of Wine, Music, and Delicacies
Over four festival days – from Thursday afternoon to Sunday evening – the courtyard transforms into an open wine-serving stage. The program includes:
- Wine service of Meintzinger wines: Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Riesling, Frickenhäuser Domina (red wine), Spritzer, and Secco
- Live music with Franconian and regional bands throughout all four days
- Franconian delicacies – Bratwurst, sausage platter, cheese, bread, Franconian specialties
- Hoffest ambiance in the baroque wine estate courtyard
Hotel Winery Meintzinger
Weingut Meintzinger is not only a winery but also a hotel – so guests can stay overnight right on site. The Meintzinger wines are well-known in the region through the winery's sales and wine distribution platforms: Frickenhäuser Riesling feinherb, Bacchus halbtrocken, and Frickenhäuser Domina trocken are among the most famous products.
Frickenhausen am Main
Frickenhausen am Main is a market town with around 1,300 inhabitants in the Würzburg district (Lower Franconia, Bavaria). The community is known for its completely preserved town wall with three city gates and is considered one of the most beautiful wine villages in Franconia. The Hoffest fits harmoniously into this setting.
Dates in May and November
In addition to the May Hoffest, there is also a Hoffest in November each year (often a Federweißer or Sturm festival). However, the May Hoffest is the larger, more well-known of the two – with the charm of a Franconian spring festival in the courtyard.
