Sociable festival with beer and barbecue amidst nature
The Himmelfahrt-Fest am Bezelberg is a fixed traditional date in Neustadt am Main, a district in the Main-Spessart region, Bavaria. The festival is organized by the Dorfgemeinschaft Neustadt e.V. (Neustadt Village Community), which makes Ascension Day a sociable day for the whole family.
The Bezelberg above the Maintal valley provides a natural backdrop for the festival. From midday, locals and day-trippers meet for coffee and cake, draft beer and shandy, and grilled food. The village community describes the festival as a "sociable event amidst nature" – ideal for a relaxed family outing.
Neustadt am Main is known as a woodcarver village and is part of the administrative community of Gemünden am Main. The village on the Main triangle combines Franconian tradition with its idyllic location between the Spessart and the Main river. The Ascension Day Festival is an expression of a vibrant village community that cultivates tradition and sociability.
The festival on the Bezelberg is deliberately kept uncomplicated: no big stage, no mass crowds, but rather encounters, good food, and the view of the landscape. This is precisely what makes this Franconian Ascension Day tradition so appealing.
Like the May Festival, the Ascension Day Festival is part of the Neustadt village community's event calendar. The proceeds benefit the community life in the village – voluntary commitment that strengthens cohesion in the Main-Spessart district.
The 2026 Ascension Day Festival will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 (Ascension Day), starting at midday on the Bezelberg in Neustadt am Main. The Neustadt Village Community invites you to a sociable event amidst nature.
Coffee and cake, draft beer and shandy, and delicious barbecue will be offered – a relaxed outing for the whole family with a wide view of the Maintal valley.
Note: This is a small, village festival without a major stage program – the appeal lies in encounters, hospitality, and nature.
